Next week, Running Man members will bid their beloved brother Lee Kwang Soo an emotional farewell.
On June 6th, Running Man released a preview for next week’s episode, which will be Lee Kwang Soo’s farewell episode.
The preview starts with a brief clip of Ji Suk Jin, Lee Kwang Soo, and Kim Jong Kook carrying out their penalty for losing the race. Doing the dishes together, Ji said, “This might be Lee Kwang Soo’s last penalty,” pointing out that Lee’s farewell episode won’t be including any penalties. “It feels good,” Ji added, “to do this last punishment with Kwang Soo.”
Soon, the clip showed the first day of Running Man recording in the rain. Lee, who said his first greetings as a 25-year-old man at the time, is now in his mid-30s as he says his goodbyes.
Reading the farewell letter he wrote, Lee burst into tears, saying, “I’m sorry.” The rest of the Running Man members were also seen getting emotional at his words, bringing the viewers to tears as well. The fans also noticed the number written on Lee’s jumpsuit – 3991 – which is the total number of days Lee was a part of Running Man (from June 11th, 2010 to June 13th, 2021).
Earlier, Lee’s agency announced the actor’s exit from the show due to health issues. “Lee Kwang Soo was like a family to the show for the past 11 years, so it wasn’t easy for him to come to this conclusion. Yet, we believe that the actor needs time to show better performances in the future,” they wrote.
Lee Kwang Soo’s last Running Man episode will air on June 13th at 5 PM KST.
