NCT’s Doyoung will likely be joining the upcoming musical Marie Antoinette.
According to EMK Musical Company, Doyoung will play Hans Axel de Fersen in the musical Marie Antoinette, scheduled to open in July.
Hans Axel de Fersen, played by Doyoung, is a Swedish aristocrat who falls in love with Marie Antoinette. Although he suffers from a tragic fate, he is determined to overcome it with love. So far, Hwang Minhyun and Leo (Jung Taekwoon) have played the role.
It will be the beginning of Doyoung’s musical career. The idol worked hard on singing and acting since the moment he started discussing his appearance. His vocal trained shared, “Doyoung is an artist with a jewel-like voice. You can certainly look forward to his passion for Marie Antoinette and Hans Axel de Fersen.”
“I’m honored to participate in Marie Antoinette. I am nervous because this is my first musical, but I can’t wait for the day I get on stage. I will do my best to show you my best performance,” said Doyoung.
Marie Antoinette, set to premiere in Korea after two years, depicts the turbulent life of Marie Antoinette, who was guillotined during the French Revolution. The true meaning of justice will be portrayed by comparing her life with that of Margrid Arnaud, a fictional figure who leads the revolution with a keen interest in the absurdities of society.
Meanwhile, Marie Antoinette opens on July 13th at the Charlotte Theater.
