Lee Do Hyun’s role as Hwan Hee Tae is a character who enters Seoul National University’s Medical School at the top of his class but postpones his graduation because of a trauma inflicted by a specific incident. The actor is said to express the character’s pains deeply hidden behind his humor and cheerfulness.

“I think I’m similar to Hee Tae in that he seems free-spirited and easy-going but is more thoughtful than anyone else,” Lee Do Hyun said while introducing his character. He continued, “I thought that there might be a sort of wariness in his heart, but it seemed more like Hee Tae to clearly express himself. So I focus on that while I play him.”

The expectations of viewers rose as he added, “It’s a work that made me realize what youth truly is. The affection and tenderness are what drew me to the series.”

Youth of May will kick off with its first episode on May 3rd.
