Amid the ongoing controversy surrounding Seo Ye Ji, multiple media outlets reported that her appearance in OCN’s new series Island had been canceled. In response, the production team gave a short answer.
On Tuesday, media outlets reported that Seo Ye Ji’s appearance in OCN’s mega-scale series Island had been canceled. Soon, OSEN added that the entire script would have to undergo major revisions for better quality.
Island is based on the webtoon of the same name. The plot revolves around three characters: a man who needs a woman to end his cursed immoral life, a woman who does not know of the cruel fate that awaits her, and an exorcist who is swept by guilt, failing to protect a girl. Earlier, Seo Ye Ji, Kim Nam Gil, and Cha Eun Woo were reported to have joined the project.
According to officials, Island is currently undergoing major editing. This is to add more realism to the characters, including set-ups of the original webtoon and Won Mi Ho’s character, whom Seo Ye Ji was offered to play.
The series was initially scheduled to start filming in June. But with the rescripting process, the schedule will be postponed to late July or early August. In the meantime, the production team will cast the new female lead.
However, later in the day, an official from OCN refuted the report. He shared, “Nothing has been set in stone regarding Seo Ye Ji’s appearance. We haven’t even carried out the first shooting. Nothing has been confirmed yet.”
