The film Bigwang (literal title), starring Ryu Seung Ryong and Ha Ji Won, plans to overcome the covid 19 crisis and officially start filming after a year.

According to industry insiders, Bigwang is currently brushing up its last-minute preparations to restart in June. Bigwang is a new film directed by Lee Ji Won, who received favorable reviews through the movie Miss Baek (2018). This family noir film tells the story of the glamorous couple who struggle to retrieve what’s theirs after they crash hard to the ground after getting involved in a case.

Ha Ji Won was cast for Nam Mi, a top star who is now over the hill. Ryu Seung Ryong plays Hwang Joong Goo, a former baseball player who has to leave behind his glorious past. Parasite actor Park Myung Hoon has joined the project as a detective.

Originally, Bigwang planned to begin its filming in June last year. However, the project was hampered by the resurge of COVID-19. Facing various difficulties in investing, the filming was postponed from June to September.

But this delay lasted for about a year. The lead actors chose to wait patiently but eventually ended up shooting other projects first. Ryu Seung Ryong and Ha Jin Won worked on Jung Family’s Farm and Dramaworld 2, respectively.

Bigwang recently confirmed the resumption of production with the actors. With their trust in the director and the script, Ryu Seung Ryong and Ha Ji Won plan to immediately jump into the filming as soon as their schedule clears up.

Bigwang plans to shoot in June, but it could be moved up depending on the schedule.
