Big Hit Entertainment will change its name to HYBE and make a new start as a multi-content company.
The company announced on the 10th the bill on name change through the Data Analysis, Retrieval and Transfer System (DART) along with a public announcement for the general shareholders’ meeting and a reference document on voting rights.
According to the announcement made, Big Hit Entertainment plans to propose a change of name to ‘HYBE’ as an agenda in the shareholders’ meeting.
As chairperson Bang Si Hyuk previously stated that they will move towards the world’s best lifestyle entertainment platform, the company aims for a comprehensive image by dropping the word ‘entertainment.’
Furthermore, as the name changes, the ‘Real Estate Lease Act’ will be added to the business purpose along with music production, management, performance, and internet businesses. The purpose is so that they could rent a practice room and auxiliary space in the subsidiary company.
The general shareholders’ meeting will be held at the Dragon City Hotel in Seoul at 9 a.m. KST on the 20th. It will cover the company’s name change to ‘HYBE” and the appointment of CEO Bang Si Hyuk as an in-house director.
