The second work directed by Park Hwa Young, Young Adult Matters, has officially been confirmed to release in April. The movie also unveiled two different ’18 posters.’
Young Adult Matters is about a pregnant teen ‘Se Jin’ who has been disregarded by her family and school, taking on an abortion project along with Joo Young, whom she had been friends with for four years. The film simultaneously drew heated controversy and favorable reviews as it portrays the reality of teenagers in 2018, shedding light on the current issue of ‘school violence’ and the dark reality of teens who have no choice but to go astray.
As a movie that deals with a ‘pregnant teen’s abortion project,’ it has been recognized for its quality and popularity amongst the indie-movie scene, sweeping the Megabox Award and KTH Award from the 25th Busan International Film Festival.
Furthermore, rising actress Lee Yoo Mi and Ahn Hee Yeon (EXID’s Hani) will be playing the roles of ‘Se Jin’ and ‘Joo Young,’ attracting even more attention for Young Adult Matters. After her work in Park Hwa Young, Just Dance, and 365: Repeat the Year, Lee Yoo Mi has depicted the delicate emotions of Se Jin in the film. On the other hand, Ahn Hee Yeon is to make her big-screen debut as an actress through this work. Demonstrating stable skills through various dramas, she will now present the audience with the character of ‘Joo Young’ with a completely changed image.
Curiosity has been raised to the anxious and uncertain future of the two in the film. With the phrase ‘You were never interested in us’ on the revealed posters, they seem to embody the recklessness of the characters.
