Netflix’s ‘Space Sweepers’ Tops Chart in 16 Countries on First Day of Release

After receiving attention as Korea’s first space Sci-Fi film, Space Sweepers ranked No. 1 for streamed movies on Netflix only a day after its release.

According to the Flixpatrol on the 7th, a chart that gathers ranks of streamed video contents, Space Sweepers scored a total of 525 points as of the 6th, running No. 1 amongst Netflix’s popular movies from all around the world.

The movie topped the list in a total of 16 countries including South Korea, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Estonia, Finland, France, Latvia, Lithuania, Malaysia, Montenegro, the Philippines, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, and Ukraine.

Space Sweepers was originally scheduled to be released in theatres last summer but postponed its release due to the infectious spread of the COVID-19 virus. It then chose to release on Netflix simultaneously around the world on the 5th.

Meanwhile, Space Sweepers tells the story of the crew members who are janitors in space with their ship Victory. They jump into a dangerous deal after discovering Dorothy, a humanoid robot that is known as a deadly weapon of mass destruction.
