Someone from the drama department said on the 13th, “Jo Byung Gyu will appear as the main character of tvN’s historical drama, The Story of a Royal Inspector (literal translation).”

Jo Byung Gyu will be playing as Ryan, the youngest vice-officer of Hongmungwan and an undercover emissary of the king. (Translator’s Note: Hongmungwan was one of the Three Offices of the Joseon Dynasty.) Though Ryan has dashing looks, he is a character who does not have goals for his life or future.

As Jo Byung Gyu appeared in three consecutive hit dramas starting with SKY Castle, then Hot Stove League, and The Uncanny Counter, another different side of him is expected from this fantasy-history drama. The awaited season 2 of The Uncanny Counter is planned to start production in September, so the actor aims to spend his time with The Story of a Royal Inspector until then.

The show will be directed by Yoo Jong Sun and written by Lee Jae Yoon. As soon as the crew finishes casting, they will start filming. The drama is to be aired in the second half of this year.
