Netflix Officially Confirms the Production of Korean Remake of ‘Money Heist’

Netflix original series Money Heist will be produced in the Korean version.

Netflix officially announced the remake of Money Heist today. Money Heist is a Spanish heist crime drama television series created by Álex Pina. The series traces two long-prepared heists led by the Professor), one on the Royal Mint of Spain and one on the Bank of Spain. It created a global sensation when it was released on Netflix in late 2017.

The Korean remake of Money Heist will feature a similar plot as the original series but be staged against the backdrop of the Korean peninsula.

Álex Pina, the executive producer of Money Heist, said, “Korean content has captivated viewers around the world through unrivaled writing and culture over the years, just as ‘Money Heist’ has. In that respect, we were fascinated by the possibility of a Korean version of ‘Money Heist.’ The fact that the incident unfolds against the backdrop of the Korean Peninsula is another factor that excites me.”

The remake will be directed by The Guest and Voice director Kim Hong Sun and penned by Psychopath Diary writer Ryu Yong Jae. BH Entertainment (A Single Rider, Miss Baek) and Content ZIUM (Itaewon Class, Go Back Couple, More Than Friends, Run On) will become co-producers.

Earlier, it was reported that Yoo Ji Tae, Jeon Jong Seo, Kim Yoo Jin, Park Hae Joon and Bae Sung Woo were in talks to star in the series.
