BLACKPINK suddenly announced a mega-project.
YG Entertainment posted a surprise teaser video titled “BLACKPINK AROUND THE WORLD” on its official blog at 9 a.m. KST.
Starting with Seoul, satellite view photos of major cities around the world and local time were listed. And in the background, BLACKPINK’s signature sound and parts of their mega-hit song “How You Like That” flowed out. In the second half of the video, in which countless cities were zoomed out, a pink crown was placed on top of the earth, suggesting the project that will suit BLACKPINK’s global status.
As the video is only about 30 seconds, the identity or information about their upcoming project is still veiled, but global fans’ curiosity and expectations are already soaring. This is mostly because BLACKPINK’s year-end mega event is expected, considering that the promotions are usually carried out about a month ago.
BLACKPINK has gained an unrivaled position in the global music market with its vigorous activities this year. They have set new footmarks in K-pop girl group history, including collaboration with Lady Gaga in May, “How You Like That” in July, “Ice Cream” in August, and their first full-length album THE ALBUM in October.
