Members of SM’s rookie group aespa have been the subject of a series of controversies.
Yesterday, aespa made their grand debut with their debut song “Black Mamba.” From the start, the group received much attention for members’ perfect visuals and its unique storytelling.
However, as much attention is being paid to them, some netizens started digging up their past and raising suspicions. Recently, one netizen claimed that aespa’s Japanese member Giselle (Aeri Uchinaga) used to be a “juvenile delinquent.”
The person wrote, “(Giselle) was a famous bully from when she was a minor, and used to drink, smoke and even take drugs. She personally used to drag what she did with her own mouth.” A photo released together shows a figure, who is believed to be Giselle, cursing with her finger.
“She then suddenly went to Korea and changed her number and deleted her Instagram account. And recently she was revealed to be an SM trainee. There are several people who still have the photos posted on her Instagram before she deleted the account,” the netizen added. “The kids who used to smoke, drink and take drugs with her (Giselle) are following aespa’s Instagram account.”
In response, SM Entertainment heralded legal actions, saying, “Not only is creating malicious rumors, posting articles that constitute defamation, but also spreading these rumors are clearly illegal acts. We will be taking strong legal actions.”
