Choi Min Sik, one of the best actors in Korean cinema history, might return to the small screen after 24 years.
The actor’s agency C-JeS Entertainment confirmed that Choi Min Sik is positively considering the drama Casino (literal title) as his next project. They added, “The drama will be co-produced by C-JeS Entertainment and BA Entertainment, and will start filming next year.”
About the reason for his comeback to the small screen, they added, “Like the actor said in his last interview, he was thirsty to take the contents of good materials and themes as a long-term work, and that’s why he’s considering his appearance in a TV drama.”
Casino is written and directed by The Outlaws director Kang Yoon Sung. It will be co-produced by BA Entertainment, which produced Tunnel, The Outlaws and The Gangster, The Cop, The Devil, and Choi Min Sik’s agency C-JeS Entertainment.
Choi Min Sik’s return to the small screen comes 24 years after the 1997 drama Love and Separation. Since then, the actor only starred in movies, leaving behind a slew of megahit films such as Swiri, Old Boy, Taegukgi, I Saw the Devil, Nameless Gangster: Rules of Time, New World and Korea’s most-watched and highest-grossing film The Admiral: Roaring Currents.
