NCT U’s Shotaro’s M Countdown fancam surpassed 800,000 views just two days after its release, proving music fans’ keen interest in the artist.

In the recent episode of Mnet’s M Countdown, NCT U held their first performance for their new song, “Make A Wish(Birthday Song).” After the broadcast, fancam for Jaehyun, Jaemin, Lucas, Doyoung, Taeyong, Xiaojun, and Shotaro were uploaded on the M2 YouTube channel.

Right after they were released, Shotaro’s fancam video ranked 23rd in YouTube’s Trending category, surpassing 800,000 views in just two days.

Considering all the malicious comments and criticisms poured out at the two new members, especially Shotaro, the artist successfully turned the table around in just a week of his official debut.

These are only a few (kind ones) from the pages of comments written at the time.
“Shotaro doesn’t look like an NCT member. I thought they picked good looking people for NCT. I guess not.”
“I’m not part of the NCT fandom, but the new member does stand out a bit.”
“I’m a little disappointed because I expected a lot when they said they will reveal new members.”

And now, here are the comments for his fancam.
“Sorry everyone but Shotaro clearly ate this whole performance.”
“Everyone has their eyes on him to criticize but he literally is so polished already.”
“This is his debut stage yet he didn’t look nervous and he nailed it already.”

Born in Japan in 2000, Shotaro is 21 years old this year, and his real name is Shotaro Osaka.
