Red Velvet Irene has been selected to play the lead role in a new movie and will be making her debut on the big screen.
According to multiple industry officials on July 16th, Irene has been cast as the main lead for a movie titled Double Patty.
SM Entertainment confirmed the news, saying “Irene will play an aspiring anchorwoman in the movie Double Patty.”
Baek Leung Hwan, the director who won the Best Directing Award at the 2019 Korea Culture and Entertainment Awards with his movie The First Shot, will be directing the coming of age movie Double Patty.
Double Patty will start filming in August with the aim of releasing it by the end of the year. Irene will be transforming into a youthful, aspiring anchorwoman in the movie.
Irene was previously cast in the 2016 web drama Game Development Girls. Anticipation is building up for this upcoming movie, as she will play the main protagonist.
Irene released her new unit album ‘Monster’ with fellow Red Velvet member Seulgi, and is embarking on various promotions.
