In Good Casting, which recently ended, Choi Kang Hee was much praised. She breathed a life into her role Baek Chan Mi, an oddball NIS agent, so much that it is impossible to think of any other actors as Baek Chan Mi. Choi Kang Hee’s unique charm has captivated viewers to the point where a two-year hiatus cannot be felt.
Choi Kang Hee expressed her feelings about finishing Good Casting in a written interview.
“I challenged the action genre through this work, and I am grateful and proud of the favorable reactions that many people showed me. It was a new challenge for me, so I put even more effort into preparing. It’s all the more rewarding because you sent a lot of love till the final episode.“
She said that thanks to the pre-production system, she got to film in a scene where there was lots of communication. She added, “I filmed with enough time. I had a relaxed mind and breathed together, looking at every staff and every actor. I would like to thank director Choi Young Hoon and writer Park Ji Ha for offering me the role of Baek Chan Mi, and I would like to express my sincere gratitude to the viewers who trusted and watched until the end.”
Good Casting is a drama that takes place when three female NIS agents who were forced to stay behind the desks are put back in the scene. Although the play is centered around Baek Chan Mi, Choi Kang Hee looked back on the past time, and said, “Without feeling burdened or responsible, I acted while breathing with the actors together.”
She also did not forget to show her affection for her fellow actors. As for Kim Ji Young, she said, “She gives me a sense of healing and happiness just by looking,” and praised Yoo In Young, saying, “I didn’t know who smart, pretty and easy-going she was.” Especially, she expressed her gratitude to the two saying, “When we were together, we were the most energetic, and we felt the comradeship.”
She also showed the love to the drama and to her role by replacing her profile picture on the portal site with Baek Chan Mi’s photo. Choi Kang Hee, who is on a different path from female actors in their 40s, is preparing for another challenge.
Choi Kang Hee, who said, “I want to continue to challenge myself in the future,” has been engaged in various activities, including writing books and releasing albums in addition to acting. She said, “Recently, I’m interested in the field of using the body,” raising expectations for her future moves.
“If there’s a work I can do well, whatever it is, I want to live faithfully as actor Choi Kang Hee. I have a script under review, and I think I’ll be able to greet you as early as the second half of the year.”
