SBS explained the claim that a staff talked behind TWICE‘s back.

SBS’s official YouTube channel, SBS KPOP, unveiled TWICE’s Inkigayoencore stage fancam on June 14. After the video was posted, some fans claimed that a man believed to be a staff member said, “They really suck at singing.” (around 3:29 of the video)

As the controversy sparked, SBS KPOP said, “There are opinions that a staff from the fancam team harshly criticized TWICE’s encore stage, so we would like to explain. In conclusion, it was a simple happening, but we apologize first for causing the controversy for uploading the video without sorting out the audio.”

“To tell you about the audio of the controversy, it was not a staff’s voice, but a copy of an ad for a shopping app that was supposed to come out as a commercial. The misleading comment is actually ‘Completing my intellectual image,’” they added. “As soon as TWICE got off stage, we turned on the audio of commercial that was on air via studio’s PA, and that copy, which had no background music, came out at that timing.”

“If anyone criticizes a beloved singer without any grounds, they will be angry. I know that you misunderstood us, and we do apologize that we didn’t pay enough attention so that such a misunderstanding took place. SBS KPOP team feels the same way as the fans. We apologize to TWICE fans who must have been hurt from the misunderstanding, TWICE members, who much have been worried about their fans, and TWICE’s agency staffs.
