Singer HA:TFELT, otherwise known as Yeeun, worries about “I’ve got no money” are belatedly becoming the talk of the town online.

On May 24, videos of Yeeun appearing in KBS2’s Wise Adult Life (literal translation are rapidly spreading on major online communities such as FM Korea and Ruliweb. Wise Adult Life is an entertainment show that gives financial advice such as reasonable consumption and savings for adults in their 20s and 30s.

Yeeun, who appeared as a guest, said, “I have no money to save since all my money is tied up with my house. There’s nothing more to save. What should I do?”

She explained her situation, saying, “I took out a loan from the bank (to buy the house), and since all my money is tied up (to pay the house), I don’t have any money to spend.”

But Yeeun’s life was somewhat hard to sympathize with. She, who lives in a three-story glasshouse, enjoyed Internet shopping casually and leased an expensive car ($1,130 a month).

Public reactions are not good.

“Poverty is not a fashion.”

“New kind of FLEX where you appeal to others that you’re poor when you’re not.”

“I’ve got nothing to say about your life. But please don’t make fun of us who are actually struggling.”

“I don’t understand why you’re pretending to be struggling.”
