The Korea Communications Standards Commission (KCC) gave a warning to KBS2’s The Return of Superman for Gary‘s “Hidden Camera Fainting Prank.”

On May 20, KCC issued an “administrative guidance “to KBS2’s The Return of Superman, which showed Gary’s prank of pretending to faint while boxing in front of his 27-month boy Haoh in the form of hidden camera.

Back on March 15, Gary pretended to faint in front of Haoh, causing the baby boy to be at a loss. Haoh burst into tears, begging his father to wake up. Gary, who pretended to be unconscious, woke up with Haoh’s kiss and started to comfort him, saying that everything was a prank for a hidden camera.

Later during the interview, Haoh once again showed tears, thinking about the incident.

After the broadcast, Save the Children, an NGO for international relief and development, pointed out that it “fostered the fear of children and consumed them as entertainment” and asked for stern reprimand.

KCC stressed, “”If a child appears on the show, it is highly likely that we might be negligent in protecting the child’s emotions. We need to give full consideration to the impact of public media on children.”
