Lovelyz’s Ryu Soo Jung expressed her excitement ahead of her first solo debut in six years since her debut.
Ryu Soo Jung held a join interview ahead of the release of her first solo mini-album Tiger Eyes.
The upcoming album Tiger Eyes includes seven songs – the title track of the same name, “Be Cautious,” “CALL BACK,” “Your Name,” “42=,” “NA, NI,” and “zz.”
The title track “Tiger Eyes” is a song that compares the eyes of an attractive opposite sex to the eyes of a beast. By melting EDM elements to pop sounds, the song added a classy touch. Ryu Soo Jung’s languid and dreamy voice will create a unique atmosphere.
Ryu Soo Jung said, “I paid a lot of attention to my facial expressions and voice to show a different side of me than when I was in Lovelyz. The new concept that I tried even got me thinking, ‘Can I do it?’ but my boss led me well. I want to continue to show you various concepts as a solo artist,” expressing her feelings about her solo career.
How did Lovelyz members react? Ryu Soo Jung responded, “They were all ‘I’m shocked’ or ‘I never thought you would do this’ since it was a concept that we never tried before. At the same time, watching me preparing for the album alone, they told me that they were proud of me, which I am thankful for.”
If Ryu Soo Jung had tried to maximize the team’s color as a member of Lovelyz, now, she showed desire in wanting to try various concepts in her solo career.
She picked her voice as a factor that allows her to show her own color. “My voice is husky, and I hear a lot of air and cracks. Also, I believe that it’s my own characteristic that I can easily melt into various genres, from pop to ballad, thanks to my high tone of voice.”
“‘Tiger Eyes’ is a song that maximizes the appeal of my voice. I got to recharge my confidence from the lyrics, which shows fascination with oneself. It’s such an attractive song,” said Ryu Soo Jung.
Finally, she added, “I have put in a lot of effort to become a tiger to perform ‘Tiger Eyes.’ I’m planning to perform on stage with confidence, so I hope you enjoy it,” expressing her determination.
Starting with M Countdown, Ryu Soo Jung will perform on KBS 2TV’s Music Bank on May 22, MBC’s Show! Music Core on May 23, and SBS’s Inkigayo on May 24, continuing her full-scale promotional activities.
