Rain Starts a New Meme in Korea with His Song ‘GANG’

There is a newly-coined word, “1 Day 1 GANG.”

It is about singer-actor Rain‘s song “GANG.” “1 Day 1 GANG” means that the song is so addictive that you need to hear “GANG” at least once a day. Notably, the newly-coined word was mentioned in the recent episode of MBC’s How Do You Play?, which aired on May 9, making headlines.

As of May 12, the official music video for “GANG” has surpassed 7.4 million views. Famous content creators are making parody videos, and a web entertainment show “Civilization Express,” which is gaining much popularity among teens, has talked about the new meme.

The new meme started when Statistics Korea wrote a rude comment on the music video of “GANG.”

However, the incident started a new “GANG” craze. Teenagers, who were unfamiliar with Rain and his music that lead the Korean Wave, are saying that they have seen the whole new side of the singer. They are also saying that regardless of the content of the song, Rain has excellent capabilities as a performer.

Maybe if Rain uses this chance well, he might be able to have his “new” heyday.
