Actor Jo Jung Suk volunteered to cut his own pay to help tvN’s Hospital Playlist save money.
According to TV Daily report, Jo Jung Suk re-signed his contract for Hospital Playlist to receive around 70 million KRW (approx. 57,295 USD) per episode. He originally received a pay between 90 million KRW (approx. 73,660 USD) to 100 million KRW (approx. 81,930 USD) per episode. Still, he conveyed his intention to accept a lower amount to help out the production team.
Multiple sources said, “Jo Jung Suk is worth a lot of money because he’s one of the top actors in the drama industry. He usually receive 90 million to 100 million KRW per episode, but voluntarily cut his performance fees due to his trust in producer Shin Won Ho and writer Lee Woo Jung. Such an actor is really rare. He is setting a great example.”
Producer Shin Won Ho and writer Lee Woo Jung, who produced Reply series and Playlist/Playbook series, have never used the top actors. However, for the first time, they have broken their own rules and chose Jo Jung Suk to star in their drama.
An official from the drama said, “I think that is one of the reasons why Jo Jung Suk decided to cut his own pay. He is truly an amazing actor.”
Currently, Jo Jung Suk has finished all filming for Hospital Playlist and is spending time with his pregnant wife.
