Rapper Microdot wrote a letter of apology and explanation after his parents’ prison sentences were confirmed.

On May 1, Microdot posted a lengthy apology letter on his Instagram.

“Hello. This is Microdot (Shin Jae Ho).

When the news of my parents came out in November 2018, I spoke carelessly without a full understanding of the situation and therefore hurt the victims, and I apologize for that.

I’m ashamed of myself for being careless at that time and still deeply regretting it.

I can’t turn back the time with words, but my parents’ faults are my faults and my parents’ regrets are also the regrets that I must bear as a son.

I cannot fully fathom the suffering that the victims and their families went through all this time.

That is why for the past year and a half I have done everything I can to understand the exact facts, and though I might be lacking, tried correct my parents’ mistake.

By April 24, 2020, when the final ruling was made, I had reached an agreement with nine victims as the son of my parents, but I couldn’t reach an agreement with the other four victims and my parents were sentenced to prison.

I would like to once again apologize to those who have been hurt by my parents and those who have been hurt because of what I lack.

I will always be careful not to repeat the same mistakes in the future, looking back on my insufficient actions.

From Microdot (Shin Jae Ho).”

Meanwhile, Microdot’s parents, who were indicted on charges of borrowing a large sum of money from acquaintances and then fleeing the country, gave up their appeal. Microdot’s father was sentenced to three years in prison whereas Microdot’s mother to one year

According to the Cheongju District Court, the couple submitted an appeal release to the court on April 29, meaning they did not appeal the final trial’s ruling. As the deadline to appeal has now passed, their prison sentences have been confirmed.
