Actor Jang Na Ra answered why she chose Oh My Baby as her return to the romance drama in four years.
New tvN’s Wednesday-Thursday drama Oh My Baby, which will premiere on May 13, depicts a romance between Jang Ha Ri, a journalist specializing in childcare who wants to have a child without getting married, and three men. Jang Na Ra will play the role of Jang Ha Ri, an honest and confident journalist who just wants to have a baby, and showcase a whole new side of her.
To the question of why she chose to return to romance drama, she answered, “The first reason was that I could show comedy to make viewers laugh after a good while.” Then she went on to say, “I had no choice but to choose the work since it presented various stories of women such as marriage and childcare, as well as social headlines, including single parent, working mothers and women whose careers have been stalled, and realistic script that pierced my heart.”
She also introduced her character Jang Ha Ri as someone who is honest and natural. Jang Na Ra added, “She may seem strange time to time, but she is more honest and confident than anyone else when it comes to her wants. She has very different personalities from myself, but playing her made me think more about the worries and conflicts that women face. I sympathized a lot with her, who is not just a person who likes and wants children, but a woman who wants to have a family who she can lean and depend on.”
As for the three actors, Park Byung Eun, Go Joon and Jung Gun Joo, who she works with, she said, “It will be fun to see how opposite Go Joon, the older guy who is actually a softy, and Park Byung Eun, a close friend with his sly charm, are. Jung Gun Joo, the younger guy, has his eccentric charm. Please look forward to the chemistry between Jang Ha Ri and the three men.”
Oh My Baby will premiere at 10:50 p.m. on May 13 KST.
