Extracurricular, a drama about teenagers and their crimes, will unveil soon. It is expected to be the work that will make headlines for sure with its unconventional materials and genre that are entirely different from already existing school dramas.

Netflix’s Extracurricular depicts the process of a group of high school students who start committing crimes to earn money and the unpredictable dangers they face as a result. Young actors including Kim Dong Hee, Jung Da Bin, Park Joo Hyun and Nam Yoon Soo, and veteran actors such as Choi Min Soo, Park Hyuk Kwon, and Kim Yeo Jin will appear. Also, director Kim Jin Min, known for Lawless Attorney and Time Between Dog and Wolf, directed the drama.

Yoon Shin Ae, the head of the production company, said, “I thought that I was going to produce this for sure after reading the draft written by a new writer. It felt so alive. Even though the drama revolves around high school students, the story is as sharp as a knife, asking the question of ‘Are we living our lives properly?’.”

Director Kim Jin Min said, “I was afraid that my career might be over if I misdirected it, but I knew that I would regret it if I choose not to do it. I thought to myself, ‘the young writer wrote something terrifying.’ It was a big assignment, but I wanted to give it a try.”

Kim Dong Hee, who appeared in SKY Castle and Itaewon Class, leads the story with a completely different image, playing the role of Oh Ji Soo, who pays the price for choosing the road of crimes without guilt. He said, “After reading the script, I was shocked and yet felt alive. Some expressions of the writer came a bit difficult, but they were expressed vividly. It’s a genre that isn’t usually used in Korean dramas, so I really wanted to give it a shot.”

Jung Da Bin played the role of Seo Min Hee, who is caught up in Ji Soo’s crime. She said, “It was fresh and shocking because it was so different from the existing school dramas. I thought that it was a story that someone has to talk about. I acted thinking that I was responsible for reminding people about the inside stories and bad reality of the teens through ‘Extracurricular.’”
