Yoon Joo Is Currently Suffering Acute Liver Failure Due to Side Effects of Antibiotics, and Is in Need of Liver Transplant

Actor Yoon Joo stops her activities entirely due to liver damage caused by the side effects of antibiotics. She is currently in need of liver transplant.

An official from Yoon Joo’s agency, L’July Entertainment, told Sports Chosun that Yoon Joo has temporarily suspended her activities due to her deteriorating health. He also added that Yoon Joo recently had a severe cold and took strong antibiotics while her immune system was low. Now, her liver is severely damaged and needs a liver transplant.

“She isn’t in a critical condition right now, but she is in poor health. She is currently receiving hospital treatments while taking a rest and looking for a liver transplant. Please pray for Yoon Joo’s quick recovery,” he said.

The actor began acting in 2010 though the play Catch Him (literal translation) and later made her debut in the big screen with Dirty Blood in 2011. At the time, she played the lead character In Sun, drawing much attention with her unconventional performances.

Since then, she appeared in various films, including Wonderful Nightmare (2015), Untouchable Lawmen (2015), THE OUTLAWS (2017), The Pension (2018), and in dramas such as Kill Me, Heal Me and Bring It On, Ghost.

In particular, she has starred in five of director Oh In Chun’s 12 horror film series, continuing her busy schedules. Especially, Friday the 13th : The Conspiracy Begins has drawn much attention overseas as it won multiple awards at domestic and foreign film festivals, including the 2019 Thriller! Chiller!, 2019 Webfest Berlin and 2019 Seoul Webfest.
