Apink, the K-POP group who is already celebrating its 10th anniversary of their debut, made a comeback after a year and three months and topped the music charts. Now that most of the groups that debuted around the same time have disappeared, Apink’s activities stand out.

Apink released their ninth mini-album LOOK on April 13. Its title track “Dumhdurum” topped five major music charts – Melon, Genie, Bugs, Soribada, and NAVER Music – only five hours after its release. It’s a feat that has been achieved in four years and nine months since “Remember,” the title track of their second full-length album Pink MEMORY released in July 2015.

Apink, who debuted in 2011, was greatly loved for their “pure images” through “LUV,” “Mr. Chu” and “NoNoNo,” and also gained much popularity for “I’m So Sick” and “%% (Eung Eung),“ which showcased a completely different images. They are the representative girl group recognized for both individual and group activities.

Park Cho Rong, the leader of the group, said in an interview done through Play M Entertainment, “(Comeback) It is the moment we’ve been waiting for so long. The moment we release a new album is still so exciting.”

Then went on to say, “This year, we celebrated our 9th anniversary, but our greed and thirst for the album is still the same as when we made a debut. I’m just glad that memories with my members and fans are piling up just like how out precious albums have piled up.”

“I wanted to remind people ‘Right, this is Apink.’ At the same time, I wanted to hear ‘Just as we expected from Apink.’” said Oh Ha Young. Yoon Do Mi said, “Just like the title suggests, I think you will find the charm of each member. I believe that this album allows each member to show off her own charm.”

For “Dumhdurum,” Apink once again worked with Black Eyed Pilseung and Jeon Goon, who they have already collaborated with for “I’m So Sick.” Son Na Eun said, “It’s a very attractive dance song with an addictive and memorable melody. We’ve created a song with a new color.”

In the recent album, two songs that present their hearts for fans to mark the 9th anniversary of their debut are included. “Moment” is a letter from Apink to their fans, who stayed by them for the past 9 years. Park Cho Rong wrote the lyrics. There’s also another fan song “Everybody Ready?,” written by Jung Eun Ji, which was already released last year to celebrate their 8th anniversary.

Jung Eun Ji said, “I think we all have grown over time and our music has naturally changed along in the process. We want to grow musically as we create our own color in the future.”
