On April 13, MBC’s News Desk reported that a 26-year-old Choi, who served as a social worker at a community service center’s service administration team in Songpa-gu, Seoul, was arrested on charges of handing over the personal information of 17 people from the community center system from March to June last year to Cho Joo Bin, the operator of the ‘Doctor’s room.’ It also has been confirmed that personal information of several members of the currently active K-POP girl group have been included.

According to MBC, Choi stole the personal information of four famous girl group members in March last year, by accessing the system to issue a copy of their resident registration and transfer records, and send them to Cho Joo Bin. Also, as for two of them, even the information of their fathers were handed over as well.

In addition, the personal information of a person, who is now actress, but used to be a K-POP star, was delivered to Cho Joo Bin at a similar time, and Choi was found to have inquired her information three times.

Choi stated in a police investigation that he had only checker the personal information of the girl group members that he was interested in, and the police said, “No further additional crimes have been committed with the leaked personal information.” However, with the fact that Cho Joo Bin used personal information of JTBC’s head Sohn Suk Hee and former Mayor of Daegu, Yoon Jang Hyun, to extort money and valuables, police are investigating whether the gang plotted fraud or intimidation crimes.
