Korea’s First Musical Film ‘Hero’ Will Be Released This Summer

The musical film Hero (literal translation) has confirmed its premiere in summer and unveiled the poster and the first preview for the first time.

Hero depicts the last one year of An Jung Geun, Korean-independence activist, who was sentenced to death after killing Ito Hirobumi in Harbin in October 1909,

The film was directed by Yoon Je Kyun, known for Haeundae and Ode to My Father. It is based on a musical of the same name. The fact that this is the first Korean musical film is catching the eye.

The released poster shows actor Jung Sung Hwa, the original cast of the musical Hero who were highly acclaimed for his performances, playing the role of An Jung Geun once again in the movie.

The copies, “I’m not a terrorist. I’m the head of Korean Independence Army,” shown in the preview signals the touching story of An Jung Geun, a Korean hero who led the independence movement, raising the expectations.
