Actor Hong Ki Joon has recently become the center of controversy due to his drunk driving.

On March 8, Seoul Songpa Police Station stated that its officers discovered Hong asleep on the driver’s seat in his car, which was parked on the road nearby Macheon Crossroad in Songpa-gu, Seoul. They were on the scene after receiving the unidentified report, saying that a driver was sleeping in a parked car, last night (around 11:20 p.m. on the 7th, KST). According to police, the actor’s blood-alcohol level resulted from a breathalyzer test was high enough to get his license revoked.

Police revealed that it let Hong return home for the moment because he did nothing but drink. “We’ll summon him very soon to investigate further his suspicion of driving under the influence,” it said. Meanwhile, Hong’s agency Saram Entertainment confirmed police’s statement on him. “He’s deeply regretting about his behavior. He’s also waiting for the police investigation and he’ll face it sincerely,” said the company. “As his agency, we are also sorry for bringing on the public criticism,” it added.

Hong Ki Joon gained popularity as he played the role of Jang Jin Woo, a veteran pitcher of the professional baseball club Dreams, in SBS‘s previous hit series Stove League. He is currently appearing in SBS’s latest Friday-Saturday drama Hyena as the police detective Park Joo Ho.
