ZICO’s ‘Any Song’ Challenge Has Created A Syndrome

Artist ZICO has been receiving keen attention with his new song, “Any Song”.

“Any Song” has produced significant results just in a month since its release. This single, written and composed by ZICO, topped all domestic music charts right after its release. It appeared quietly at the height of controversy over so-called ‘hoarding [digital copies]’ and seized the music scene completely. Even So far, it is still No. 1 on the charts of Melon and Flo, two of the Korean major music streaming websites. “Any Song” has entered the Billboard‘s World Digital Song Sales chart for three weeks in a row.

The “Any Song” Challenge has surpassed 700 million views on TikTok, the global mobile platform for sharing videos, so far. Before the release of “Any Song”, ZICO made headlines by posting a video of “Any Song” Challenge starring himself, Hwasa of MAMAMOO and Chung Ha. The Video has gradually gone viral since then, and many famous stars have voluntarily participated in the “Any Song” Challenge. Starting with ZICO’s idea, the “Any Song” Challenge has been a syndrome-like sensation, featuring an easy-to-follow and cheerful choreography that has led to participation by worldwide users.

Zico recently accomplished seven-time wins on the local music shows thanks to the popularities of both “Any Song” and the Challenge. He lifted the No. 1 trophies for three consecutive weeks on SBS‘s Inkigayo, achieving the ‘triple crown’, and swept the top spots on the shows of the three terrestrial broadcasters for two consecutive weeks.

“We came up with the Challenge with ZICO’s idea because a lot of people are likely to feel sympathy for the musical keywords in ‘Any Song’,” An official for ZICO explained. “We made it as easy as possible for anyone to repeat and get interested easily. I guess ZICO’s trendy image has brought a sort of synergy, promoting the Challenge’s popularity,” He said.
