Lee Dong Wook Breaks Gender Stereotypes With His New Upcoming “Gumiho” Role

Lee Dong Wook will finally be returning to the small screen in 2020 with his upcoming tvN drama, in which he will be playing the main role of a gumiho, otherwise known as “nine-tailed fox”.

Gumiho, according to Korean legends, is a fox who lives a thousand years and then transforms into a beautiful woman in order to seduce men and eat their livers or hearts. Usually, this creature is always portrayed by females, much like Shin Minah‘s character in the hit Korean Drama “My Girlfriend is a Gumiho“.

Lee Dong Wook will be the first male to play this creature on Korean television, which will be a moment of a serious break from the usual gender stereotypes.

We can’t wait to see how Lee Dong Wook will take on the role of this character and are so excited for the drama to start off the New Year!
